About

Born in Nice, south of France, based in The Hague, Scheveningen, I create ceramics under the name Darsienne as a tribute to my cherished Villefranche s/mer where a lot of my inspiration comes from, vivid contrasts of colours from the sea and the texture of white rocks, modernist architecture, pastel tones of art deco villas, terracotta roof tiles and balconies.

My love for ceramics started a long time ago but I really dived into it when I started taking classes and when I finally moved on to my own studio around 2021 and started to experiment on my own, humbling lessons of trying and failing, always learning and enjoying the process.

Most of my pieces are handbuilt, sometimes started or finished on the wheel, depending on which type of clay I use. I love the red clays that I often leave unglazed, the dark brown & black clays that I love to carve and shape. I like to use some pieces as a canvas where I layer engobes or underglaze and I fire my pieces at either low or high temperatures.
